Chiropractic Care

There are many ways to practice and explain chiropractic. It is by far the most misunderstood form of health care today. Many people seek out chiropractic care for pain and symptoms, but chiropractic has so much more to offer. At Peak Health Center we go back to the basics when it comes to your family's Chiropractic care. In other words, we align with the principles the profession's founders built the profession on to get sick people well.

Vertebrae (the bones in your back) fit together so that the nerve supply produced in your brain may filter down your spinal cord and out over your nerves. These mental impulses of vital energy are responsible for growth, repair, and healing in your entire body. When vertebrae are out of their natural alignment or regions of your spine lose their natural motion, nerves become stretched or twisted (commonly referred to as a nerve “pinch”), and this vital communication system in the body is disrupted. This neurological disturbance is called a vertebral subluxation, and it may result in the dysfunction of one or more parts of the body, as well as sickness and disease in general.

Subluxations can also foster the onset of sickness and disease as the body weakens. Our Doctors focus and value the detection and correction of subluxations. Instead of treating the symptoms of the disease, our doctors correct the subluxation so that normal body functions may take place. This is done by gently pressing on your spine to align the vertebrae into their correct position, thus removing the interference to your normal body function. As this vital nerve energy is restored, your body heals, and the symptoms of the disease/dysfunction begin to diminish over time.

The human body has 11 organ systems that allow you to function and be alive. These systems are interrelated—meaning, each one depends on the health of the other 10. The master system—the one that controls and coordinates the function of all the other systems—is the Nervous System. You live your life through your nervous system! A healthy nervous system ensures the other systems are at optimal capacity. Every single action in the body, at its core, is a response by the nervous system.

Because your body systems are dependent on each other, interference in one system will eventually cause interference in another system. It may take years for you to notice your body isn’t working well, because your nervous system is a master of adaptation. This means that it will change your physiology to keep you operating as best as you can. Unfortunately, years down the road, when things start to break down, we don’t know why and just attribute it to age, life, whatever. We don’t realize that the problem may have started years before.

You break down because you have interference that prevents your nervous system from comprehending what the rest of your body is doing. That interference is what we call a Subluxation.

Nervous System

The vertebrae (the bones in your back) of the spine fit together so that mental impulses (communication) produced in your brain may filter down your spinal cord and out over your nerves. These mental impulses of vital energy are responsible for growth, repair, and healing in your entire body. When vertebrae are out of their natural alignment, or regions of your spine lose their natural motion, nerves become stretched or twisted (commonly referred to as a nerve “pinch”), and this vital communication system in the body is disrupted. Subluxations can also foster the onset of sickness and disease as the body weakens.

Where do Vertebral Subluxations come from?

  • Traumas: Whether it is a major trauma, such as a car accident or slip and fall, or a repetitive microtrauma, such as sitting at a desk for 8 hours or gaming all day, trauma can have a huge impact on both how we feel and function.
  • Toxins: Toxins refer to what we put into our bodies. Today’s diets high in sugar, artificial chemicals, and genetically modified organisms do not promote good health. Many things we eat are highly inflammatory to our bodies—even those things marketed as “healthy.” Other forms of toxins are environmental toxins such as water pollution and mold.
  • Thoughts: Thoughts are what most people tend to ignore. Our highly stressful lifestyle gets us stuck in a “fight or flight” state. When we are constantly in this state, it can alter our hormones and trigger a negative cascade in the body. The stress response can be beneficial in the short term. But chronically being in this state will cause our health to break down and deteriorate.

In Chiropractic, we call these the “3 T’s.” Each of these T’s affects how our nervous system and how our entire body functions. We ignore them for a variety of reasons, but when we are faced with problems down the road, we just can’t understand why we are falling apart.

At Peak Health Center, our doctors focus and value the detection and correction of subluxations. Your entire first visit at Peak Health Center will be centered around determining if a subluxated spine is a root cause of your condition. Our team will use state of the art technology to analyze your spine, to detect subluxation, the impact they are having on your nervous system, and the effects they are having on your health.
